From pot to leaf — how it works
Height
We measure from the very bottom of the pot all the way up to the tip of the tallest leaf. This includes the pot, the soil, the roots, and the foliage — the full picture.
Width
We measure the diameter across the top of the pot, so you know exactly how much surface space your plant needs — on a shelf, windowsill, or table.
Pot Size
Each listing includes the pot diameter in centimetres. Our hand-decorated pots come in a range of sizes — from petite 8 cm to statement 25 cm pieces.
Why do we include the pot in our measurements?
The pot isn't just a container — it's part of your plant's home. By measuring from the bottom of the pot, we account for the plant's roots, soil, and overall stability. This is the industry standard, and it ensures there are no surprises when your plant arrives.
If you're placing a fern on a shelf or a tall anthurium in a corner, the total height (pot included) is what matters for your space.
Why size might vary slightly
Plants are unique
Just like us, no two plants are exactly alike. They grow at their own pace — one may stretch toward the light while another stays delightfully compact. We allow for up to 10% natural variation in size.
Seasonal growth
In Sri Lanka's monsoon season, many plants grow faster and fuller. During drier months, growth slows. The plant you receive may look slightly different from the photo — it's growing and alive!

Measure your spot first
Check the height from surface to ceiling (or shelf above) and the width available. Compare with our listed measurements — total height includes the pot.
Leave room to grow
Most plants will grow 10–20% in their first year at home. Give them a little headroom and they'll reward you with beautiful new growth.
Consider the spread
Bushy plants like ferns and anthuriums spread wider than their pot. Check our photos and ask us on WhatsApp for the foliage width if unsure.
Decorative pots add height
If you're placing the nursery pot inside one of our decorative pots, add 2–5 cm to the total height. We list the decorative pot dimensions separately.
